Backup & Disaster Recovery

We transfer your files to an offsite storage, where they’ll be safe from hackers and hardware failures

Protecting Your Entire Business

Let’s ask the most important question right upfront: is your business prepared to face a really bad day? We’ve seen the havoc natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes can cause. While their destruction is often widespread and severe, they actually only account for around 5 percent of system downtime. So what about the other 95 percent?

Hardware failure – At 55 percent, system hardware failure is the number one cause of downtime affecting small to mid-sized businesses. One would think that with all the redundancy available in systems today – dual power supplies, dual NICs, SANS – hardware failure wouldn’t account for over half of system downtime.

Human error – People still makes mistakes. We’re human! In fact, we seem to account for about 22 percent of system downtime.

Software failures – Coming in 3rd at 18 percent, software failures take the cake. Just think of the number of patches that are routinely sent out. Unpatched software or poorly tested patches can lead to application corruption that can bring systems down and grind business to a complete halt.

So how do you protect your business from hardware and software failure, human error and even natural disasters? A backup and disaster recovery plan is the answer.

It starts with a Business Impact Analysis (BIA)

In order for companies to have the optimal level of coverage within their DR infrastructure, we first sit down with them and perform a Business Impact Analysis. This exercise identifies key Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and key Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) for each application and department. Critical business systems such as EMR, ERP, and even email, may not be affordable to be down more than an hour. However, the office birthday cake scheduler, may not need a 1 hour RTO (although we do love cake). Having a true understanding of the business impact of an outage, and then designing both the infrastructure and offsite redundancy either on premises or in cloud, make Disaster Recovery affordable and effective. Even for small businesses.

Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing

Equally important to the redundant infrastructure to support critical applications, is having a D.R. Plan in place. Often times during a disaster, the people who run IT daily may not be in a position to execute the plan, or worse yet, never really built one. So our offer includes a formally built and documented plan of execution which all key stakeholders have knowledge of. In order to ensure appropriate execution, we recommend and will provide, quarterly or at worst annual, testing of the DR Plan. And, with the Veeam Cloud, your business data will always be backed up and ready so you can resume operations in minutes. Disaster-proof your business today!
