As a seasoned IT Solutions Sales Leader, I started the year full of excitement around the emerging technologies and how they were going to change my customers lives FOREVER!! AI, IoT, and Cloud, were the most prevalent buzzwords starting the year and I learned everything I could, talked to everyone I knew, found SMEs I trusted, and started having conversations with my customers to see where they were on their journeys.

It’s been pretty Cloudy on the IT front for the last several years.  AWS, Azure and IBM SoftLayer leading the pack and spinning up some impressive marketing materials around moving all workloads to the cloud.  Immediately. Easy Peasy!

Well, reality is sinking in as customers make the attempt to move “everything” and find that the application, process, regulatory and departmental interdependencies, along with the preparation needed for general lift and shift of certain workloads,  are not as easy in practice as they are on paper.

Last week,  I attended the local Nutanix .NEXT conference, hosted in the Gaylord Resort,  in Grapevine, TX.  This conference was well attended with customers, prospects, partners, and local and national Nutanix employees from sales and technical. To kick off the afternoon,  they provided a lunch and vendor expo.

Unplugging and reserving that energy for those around you, cherishing and celebrating what is most special to you - it's important.  Although,  I think that there are some beneficial ways to use technology, more efficiently, so that you remain thankful.

We had a fantastic time at the ACC Conference this week which we hosted with our partner HPE. Part of the personal interaction opportunity we had at the conference was a 45-minute session around IoT, which ran over to 1 hour.

Typically, I’m used to attending sessions at tech conferences where everyone walks in the room with enough knowledge to at least be dangerous and potentially belligerent to the speaker.
